Campaign Launch

I am happy to report that I will be running for echo leader on a socialist policy platform.

For too long the wishes of consultancy firms have been put before the wishes of students.

For too long, we have endured a fragmented, class oriented hierarchy.

This ends now!

Polices

In keeping with tradition, it is vital that I have a 5 point plan. The only issue is that I only have 1 policy, so the first 4 have been added for effect.

From the river to the sea, fish must be free

Our wonderful institution is called the ‘Høyteknologisenteret’ and yet the building is mostly dominated by people studying fish. Are fish high-tech? Why are they here? They have colonised the department!

It is also noted that there is an entrance to the department labled ‘Fisk mottak’ but no door labeled ‘Fisk Utgang’. There is only one thing we can conclude. A fish genocide is being committed! This will not be put up with! We shall rise up and chase away the colonisers!

Revolutionary Teaching

UiB does have a high standard of teaching, but there is a glaring hole in the curriculum. We are not prepared for the revolution.

I plan to kick this off with the sale of Molotov Cocktails in the bar

For the many, not the few!

Did you know that the algorithms masters students (aka the bourgeoisie) get a free dinner every Friday? This is not replicated in any other department. The level of inequality is outrageous. We will campaign for redistribution of wealth within the department and if this proves to be ineffective, REVOLUTION!

The corrupt committee members make the other 5% look bad

Last semester the peoples bar was open for our use 10 times, but there was an estimated 18 so called team building events for committee members. This has not gone unnoticed. Echo’s money shall be spent on echo’s members and NOT the ruling classes.

A student who must work to fund their degree should not be at an academic disadvantage to one who doesn’t.

This is my only actual, serious policy:

Echo is in a unique opportunity to act more like a union to our members and this opportunity has been wasted. Many people want to work while they study and some have to make sure that ends meet. I hope to start a subcommittee (arbidesliv) that operates as a student union which will negotiate working conditions and wages for informatics students working in Bergen to ensure that work does not get in the way of studying. When this priority is achieved, we set our sights on bigger projects and give our students a fair and prosperous introduction to the workforce.
